The Forêt-la-Blanche Ecological Reserve is a popular ecotourism site in the Outaouais region, perfect for hiking near Ottawa/Gatineau. It offers six beautiful hiking trails surrounded with rich biodiversity. The reserve is a strong example of sustainable tourism, ensuring environmental protection for present and future generations. Human presence on the reserve is limited to designated trails, allowing nature to flourish without disturbance. The Forêt-la-Blanche Ecological Reserve is located on the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg people. During their visit, hikers can enjoy a poetic journey along our trails. Educational Activities

These public trails feature several educational signs that highlight ecological facts about Quebec nature. Schools and communities often book an outdoor excursion to learn more about these facts. During educational activities, groups learn about Quebec’s natural heritage and the many wildlife observations made in the park, such as moose, turtles, deer, beavers, foxes, weasels, birds, and more. Contact info@foretlablanche.org to make a reservation! A podcast specific to the reserve is also available on our website.

Family Outing

Throughout the year, children of any age are invited to borrow booklets describing the living organisms found outdoors. During winter months, after a snowshoe hike, young kids also enjoy making crafts in the information center, while sipping hot chocolate.

Four-Season Hiking

Forêt-la-Blanche offers year-round hiking trails. In the fall, visitors come from around the world to observe the vibrant shades of red and orange throughout the Canadian forests, including that of Forêt-la-Blanche. As the winter season begins, families and friends participate in several winter activities, such as forest snowshoeing and cozy indoor crafting. After a few months, these snowshoeing trails transform into the greens of spring. Throughout this season, you can see many baby birds, turtles, and chipmunks, as well as various spring flowers. During the summer, people enjoy a day trip from Ottawa/Gatineau to take part in outdoor activities such as birdwatching, forest hiking, jogging, and picnicking.
